First of all I’d like to introduce a new site set up to remind you of all those days drinking bad beer in the Bay of Plenty.
Yetiboil has a huge back-catalogue of 80s and 90s Hamilton bands, and, most pleasingly, the MP3s of the Rotovegas band, the Boogadaggas. I had the Daggas on tape thru the 90s, but it got knicked out of the car in Melbourne… the fkcers.
Strangely, the tape must have stretched because the Daggas are a lot higher and faster than I remember!
Second, I want to direct you all to a new site set up by Stephen Judd and myself. The blog currently known as will mirror some of the content off this site, and is being written for all you cheap-skates out there who like to save money.
At present we aren’t too sure about the name. Alternatives include Cheap As, and The Farmer’s E-Market.
We’re also looking for guest posters. If you have frugal ways you want to share with the world, then let us know.
Why Poneke has decided to take down his very successful, highly entertaining, and extremely informative blog is a mystery to me.
I’ve read the Google Reader RSS but the site itself seems to have disappeared.
This is a real tragedy for the New Zealand blogsphere. While wideboys like Cameron Slater continue to throw their weight around and push rabid bullshit out into the interweb, people like Poneke bring their blogs down.
Now, is anyone else suspicious about the timing of Poneke’s criticism of Whale Oil Beef Hooked, and Poneke being taken down? Just seems strange to me.
Mostly because of a series of thinly veiled threats I was receiving here on Dart a year or so back. Things like threats to my employment. The emails and attempted comments were all lodged through anonymouse, a service you have to be a canny internet user to know about.
Wow. Attended a pretty damn interesting MayDay Group dinner last night.
If you get a chance to attend one of these things, jump at it. Some pretty sharp Web2.0 minds in there, and they’re dead keen to get all kinds of ideas out to people.
If I understand it right, basically they’re giving ideas away?
First of all thanks to all the Wellingtonista’s who put in so much effort to making the night work out. I hope the great turn-out and the many many happy punters are reward enough.
As I hazily remember it… the night kicked off with Russell Brown calling the Public Address Quiz, won in a landslide by “team right”, and away they took the Rob Muldoon Memorial Toby Jug. And that’s literally took it away.
If anyone’s seen a stocky right-wing blogger in possession of my antique, please ask him to return it.
We then swang (after a short break to buy extra alcohol), into the AWAs. And congratulations to all the winners. I’m sure they’ll be listed on the Wellingtonista in the fullness of time. The “fullness of time” being at least one person with the list recovering from their hangovers of course.
And finally, to wrap it up, no less than New Zealand rock royalty in the form of Blam Blam Blam.
It was a fantastic set, from stonking old ska/punk tunes, to those melodies you’ve got to recognise in later projects (such as Song from the Front Lawn).
And frankly, I’m blimmin pooped.
But better get it together and go to Agile BarCamp Wellington.
She’s all go in our wee city, let me tell you.
PS. Oh, and the dancer’s rhythm, our Alan, he haz it.

If you’re not a regular reader of Bat, Bean, Bean, then let me commend the blog to you.
And this is especially the case in regard the last post.
Would that we call could write as well as Giovanni Tiso, immigrant and speaker of English as a second language.
